My Little Reunion

Last Saturday 5/27/06, I had a little reunion party with Elsie and Ginalyn. It was great to see them both again in a very long time. Not in the picture were DJ Dejesus and Gary Ellington (did I spell that right).
As for Decely, Mikey, and Richard..they couldn't come. Des was working. Mikey was busy with his brother . As far as Richard..I called him twice and left a message but I got no respond..so hmmmm..I wonder if his afraid to reconnect from the past..hmmm

Got To Be Startin' Something...

Rich and Wayne - I think you guys have something here... People haven't been posting much lately. So, I propose a new posting session! Everyone post pictures of you with your kids, you and your significant other, you and your pets...we've seen a lot of old pictures. Yeah, they're fun, they're funny...we've seen where we've come from...why not show people where we are now?

Wayne...great pics of you and your new wife. It's also great to see how much your family has grown...your mom and dad must go crazy over all of those grandkids.

Rich - I have to say, from experience, weddings are great, especially when they're your own. But, don't let that one day be the measure of the marriage. Enjoy the fact that you have someone to come home to everyday and though you may see the world through completely different eyes, remember that those differences compliment your life.

Here are my pics to start:

This was our wedding day, May 18, 2002

Four years later...this was taken during our anniverary weekend (two weeks ago). We took a trip to Monterey, just the 3 of us. We took Jake to the aquarium and just enjoyed a much needed respite. After 4 years, 4 jobs, 4 cars, 4 trips to Disneyland, 2 homes, 1 very active little boy, and a more good times than bad I can safely say it's been a great life so far. I can't wait to introduce all of you, in person, to the two greatest people in my life.

So come on people...bring out those pictures again. Dust off the wedding album and break out a nice candid. Parents, show off your pride and joy. Engaged or with that special someone...we'd like to see them. Pets? We like pets too! Single? WHAT THE HELL DO YOU LOOK LIKE NOW? Inquiring minds want to know.

Just a bit of this...

Hey all!
Haven't really posted any pictures yet, so here's part of my chance. School's winding down... just 2 more days! Remember those days when school was coming to an end... you're on your finals week... and the excitement of the summer! I don't know about you but I never thought too much about how much teachers were excited about it too. Now that I'm in that position, it's funny to look back and look at that.

Here are a couple of pictures of my teams that I helped out with this year. GUESS WHICH ONE IS ME?!?!?! The basketball team and the baseball team (although this is just a coaches picture). Now before you all go off on the name of the school and the mascot... remember where I'm teaching... OKLAHOMA! This school has been around since 1920... and probably was located on a creek somewhere. And why the mascot is a body part for deer is beyond me.

Anyway, I'll try and have more of my family later to share.

Mike

Where is everybody at?

Hi everybody. Here's just a few pics of the wedding day and a family portrait we took before my parents went back home to Guam.
I haven't seen many new posts lately. Hope everyone is doing fine and can't wait to see you all next year.

    Midway Magic!!!

OK this is a update from the reunion committee as we visited with several caterers and going to the USS Midway. It was myself, Claudette and Mabel.

Wow, it was amazing to be on board the USS Midway. It had been a long time for all of us that went who were part of the reunion committee. OK, I know I didn’t serve on the Midway but it was still very emotional to be on it. I had wondered days earlier if it would still smell the same as I remembered it. It’s that distinct smell of naval ships but I always associate it with the Midway. It’s kind of hard to describe… some liked it and others can’t stand it. It brought back lots of memories.

We met with the Pat who was our contact. We entered into the hangar and it appeared so much smaller than what I remembered it to be. I guess when your younger everything just looks so much bigger. There were several restored planes and additional things that tourist can do like flight simulations stations. They are starting a section in the hangar where they are putting more information up on the history of when the Midway was stationed and called Yokosuka home. It would be interesting to see how much more they will have added on to that exhibit by next year. We met with Scott McGaugh who has written several books on the Midway. He took us on a private tour down to some of the areas that were not yet open to the public. Hehehe, hey we get perks being a Navy brat, there were people that were jealous. We got to see the Officers quarters, mess hall, barber, laundry etc, etc, etc. It was an area that many of us were not able to see before. The highlight during this tour was going down the narrow ass freaking stair. You know the one if you have ever been on any navy ships. It was so much harder to go down those stairs now that we were adults. I remember it being so much easier as a kid. I loved going down them!!! We also went to the Chiefs quarter… I remember that area. It was a trip seeing it again!!!!

We got up to the Flight deck and it was a great view!!! A lot more planes were up there but they will have up to 25 by the time we are there for the reunion next year. Just looking at the “41” was awesome. It was a bit windy today so we didn’t stay up there too long. We went shopping in the gift store…. Went a little crazy but hey who care’s… I love my sweatshirt and by beanie!!! As we were leaving we were given an autographed book by Scott McGaugh who was kind enough to give us the private tour today.

The reunion is over a year away but I am so excited I wish it was next weekend. I wish you all were with us today taking the tour. Even Pat who is our contact was getting excited just seeing us excited to have the event on the ship. I can’t wait to have this event. It is going to be sooooooo awesome. There is a lot of work still to be done to finalize the entire reunion but I will tell you it is going to be great. I do hope that all you can make it out next year!!!!

Claudette took some pictures so I’m sure she will be putting them up soon.

    It definitely was MIDWAY MAGIC!!!!

    Thanks from both of us!!

    Hi All,
Just wanted to let everybody know that the Wedding went great. Thank you to all of you that showed me your love and support in one way or another.
I've told my wife Elisha numerous times that the friendships and the experiences I had being a part of the Yo-Hi family has helped make me the man I am today.
I can't wait to see all of you next year at the Reunion and to finally be able to introduce Elisha to, in my opinion, the greatest group of people I have been blessed to know.

    Calling All Class of 90..

Marie and I volunteer to be your class rep...so email us and say your coming to the 2007 Reunion.

    Happy Wedding Day!!

Farewell to your bachelor life and HELLO to your new life with your wife. Congratulation...Eugene..hope to see you both next year.

    Is it a reunion...

...if more than two Yo-Hians get together? If so, then we had a mini-reunion. This was taken at a mutual friend's wedding this past weekend. Jay and I were roommates through college in San Jose and Liza lives in the Bay Area. I still get together with Jay at least every month or so, but it's a rare occasion that I get a chance to see Liza. Anyway, this is as recent as it gets.

Pictured are Me (Nelson), Jay Montemayor, and Liza Tibayan.
