What's going on in Yokosuka these days?

I got an email yesterday from Mali Nichols Hadorn (c/o '88, her hubby is Doug from c/o '90 or '91) and she sent pictures of the snow they got yesterday. Looks like they got a good amount, like it did in '84 (or was it '83?). She also mentioned that Thew Gym is now closed and on Berkley field is the new gym with an olympic-sized swimming pool.

Then I got bored and went to check out Yo-Hi's official school site. Pretty interesting...check it out. TOTALLY different from when I was there...sniff, sniff.

Yeah, I'm glad I got a chance to go to the "barracks" Yo-hi before they tore it down. Though, I'm also glad I got a chance to see most of the new school building. My time at Yo-Hi was weird, all kinds of pile driving and construction as they built the new school, all kinds of destruction, demolition and rebuilding as they tore down the old building to put up the rest (office, band room, little theater, shop and gym). I sometimes miss those dark hallways and the ghost stories that came with them.

I'm surprised about Thew Gym, though. I thought that place was an institution. I'm so sad to know it's gone. I missed the "5 minute walk" to PE when we still had it there.

Awww, I'm really sad that they've closed the Thew Gym!!! I'm so afraid that one day, when we all finally get to go back to Yokosuka, it won't be the same and that we will have to rely only on our memories... Again, thanks to all of you for helping in bringing back the memories!
