Reunion Update #1

This is phase one of the reunion planning. The location for the 2007 Reunion will be held in San Diego, California. The reunion will be a two-day event (Friday evening and Saturday during the day) to be held in July/August 2007. Right now, no specific date is scheduled until a place is secured. At this time any comment or suggestion you have may help us in the planning process is welcome. Please leave a comment on which month (July or August) and if you have a specific weekend in mind (majority rules and/or availability of the place will determine the date). Again, it would be helpful to us in the planning stages if we know that you plan to attend.

We need volunteers to represent classes. Your responsibility will be to contact individuals in your class to give them info on this site and to have them sign up to register. We also will need volunteers to help with the reunion (set up, clean up, etc.) for Friday and Saturday. Please let us know if you will be able to assist us. This is quite an undertaking and all the help we can get is welcome. Please email directly if you would like to be a part of the reunion committee.

So far we have Barbara C/O 88 and Jenn Ames C/O 94. Thanks so much ladies for stepping up and volunteering!

Again, I can not stress it enough, but I'll need everyone's help in spreading the word regarding our reunion and I need you all to Email Me! with interest in attending! I will be speaking to banquet rep, and she'll need an estimate number attendees for the price quote.

I have a few suggestions. It sounds like a location has not yet been set. How about doing something on the Midway since its sitting in SD. I think that it would be a great place to have maybe a dinner or lunch.

Also Im not sure if you already have one but, I think it would also help to identify certain groups/commitees that are required to set this reunion up. It would be hard for one person to manage all of it. Maybe have on person in charge of each group.

1) Welcoming commitee
2) Alumni database (to keep track of emails and RSVP. Sending out invite/evite.
3) Event day Setup/breakdown.
4) Location coordinator for finding local and making necessary arrangments.
5) Food and beverages.
6) Fun and Games

I think it would be easier for people to sign up to volunteer if they had committees to sign up in.

Well that was my 2 cents and yes I will be happy to volunteer. Hope to be in town during the event as well.

Hi Lica,

Thanks so much for you comments and suggestion, all will be taken and used =) We are in the process of planning a committee team and as soon as we get some of our ducks in order we'll post it on the blog w/hopes of getting a good number of volunteers. This post was just to inform everyone that the reunion will be held locally and not in Japan as a few had concerns regarding the where abouts before they could commit into going.

As for the location we have both locations picked, but the rates for our formal banquet doesn't come out until March timeframe and I'd like to get a good number to provide the place with. I am from San Diego so I pretty much know the ins and outs of it.

Again your ideas are wonderful, brought up some stuff that I didn't think of, so please feel free to send me email with any more comments, suggestions or concerns. I really appreciate all the emails I'm getting regarding the reunion!

And before I forget, we'll definitely take you up on your offer to volunteer (now aren't you happy you've volunteer...LOL!) provided you are in town and able to go to our reunion!

Thanks again!

My 2 cents ~ I think for those who are in Japan and planning to attend the reunion would prefer that it is in July. The airfare goes up at the end of July and it's a total JOKE in August!! I plan on attending but can't if it's in August.

Since I'm in Japan, I can volunteer for whatever you need me to do here....

There is a few alums still in Japan that I think would love to come out to the reunion. Giving them a year notice and especially since we are having one of the events on the Midway. How awesome is that!!!.. August will definately be a harder time for them to come out from Japan because the whole country pretty much is on vacation in august and thats when travel is high and therefore the ticket prices go up.

Oh and to answer your Q yes im happy to volunteer. Dont hesitate to ask (which im sure you wont) hehe :-) If there is Anything I can do I will do.

Thanks for your confidence Peter!! I can certainly be a co-representative for the 86/85 class with all of you. Im terrible and didnt keep in touch with very many except Terri, Shawn and sometime I would see Sand on messenger. Im sure they know of others. I do believe there are still a few in Japan and Guam? Maybe Yuria can help. I can also check with my sister and get some info on who may still be in Yokosuka. I know Roach is still ther and so is King, Donny Williams, Taka and a few others.

Oh my goodness girl. Im sure you can do a lot more than what you say you can't. Well Im kinda stuck too. I think I will call Terri and Shawn sometime this week to see who they all keep in contact with and get their email address. The only other way is to maybe go to people finder but that can be pretty hard to navigate through.

Im sure we can figure something out to get more of our Peeps on the blog and signed up......Lica
